Outdoor Living

Backyard poolside retreatWe created this backyard poolside retreat for a family in Glocester, RI. This outdoor living area includes an 8′ deep inground pool complete with diving platform and accent lighting which anchors the space. Surrounding the pool is a multi patterned stamped concrete patio. The two different finishes provide visual interest and great function. The cobblestone pattern gives greater slip resistance for the wet areas adjacent to the pool, while the flat textured stone makes a better base for patio furnitire.
The post and beam gazebo, crafted with native white pine timbers cut at a local sawmill in Burrillville, is a great focal point and provides needed shade for those hot summer days. The timbers are connected with mortise and tenon joinery and locked together with hand tapered oak pegs. Strong and durable, this timeless construction method will last a lifetime.
The dry laid stone walls were built with stone salvaged from the foundation of an old home we demolished which was beyond repair. The red cedar shingled cabana houses the pool eqipment and offers privacy for guests to slip on that bikini or swim trunks. No speedos please!
